Types of Satellite Frequency Bands
Satellite communications use various frequency bands, each suited for particular applications:
L-Band (1-2 GHz) - Used for GPS, maritime and aviation communication, and some mobile satellite services.
S-Band (2-4 GHz) - Common in weather radar, satellite telephony, and certain communication satellites.
C-Band (4-8 GHz) - Primarily used for satellite television, telecommunications, and broadband services, especially in regions prone to heavy rainfall as it is less affected by weather conditions.
X-Band (8-12 GHz) - Mainly utilized for military and government communications.
Ku-Band (12-18 GHz) - Widely used for direct-to-home (DTH) satellite television, VSAT (Very Small Aperture Terminal) networks, and internet services.
Ka-Band (26-40 GHz) - Increasingly popular for high-speed satellite internet, aeronautical applications, and broadband communications.
